Those Pesky Ants
About Me
Those Pesky Ants

Growing up, I lived in a sprawling farmhouse in the country. This beautiful home was constantly filled with the sounds of laughter and the smells of delectable food being prepared in the kitchen. Unfortunately, our home was often invaded by some unwanted guests, ants. Pesky ants would welcome themselves into our living room, kitchen, dining room, bedrooms, and bathrooms. One night, I crawled into my bed only to discover I wasn’t alone. Ants had somehow climbed onto my bed! These destructive ants even ate holes in some of the clothing hanging in my closet. Is your home filled with unwanted, biting ants? On this blog, you will discover the latest methods pest control specialists use to rid homes of pesky ants.

Have Mosquitoes In Your Yard? Reasons To Control Them

Logan Watson

If you have a lot of mosquitoes in your yard you know how they can bite and leave behind an itchy bump. You may not know that mosquitoes can cause a lot more problems than this. Keep reading to learn more about this, as well as how you can control them.

Mosquitoes and Health Problems

There are many mosquito-borne diseases you can get. One of the more common is the West Nile virus. This can be transmitted to not only people but birds and horses as well. If you are infected with this virus, you will likely have no symptoms. Some people, however, may show symptoms of the flu. With others, especially the elderly, the West Nile virus can cause more severe symptoms.

Another mosquito-borne disease is known as Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE). This is not a common disease, but it does happen. If you are bitten by a mosquito with this disease, you may have no symptoms at all. If you do become ill, you will have a high fever, headache, fatigue, and a stiff neck. With some people, especially the elderly and young children, the symptoms can be much more severe and can even lead to death.

If you have a dog, mosquitoes can cause heart problems. When an infected mosquito bites your dog, it transmits a parasitic worm. The worm then invades your dog's heart quickly and can grow and reproduce. If not treated, heartworms will kill a dog over time.

Hire a Pest Control Company

You should first contact a pest control company, especially if you have a lot of mosquitoes in your yard. This is important as they know the best pesticide to use which depends on the time of year, where you live, etc. They spray the pesticide over your entire front and backyard. The pesticide will kill mosquitoes quickly.

There are mosquito repellents the pest control company may use. These are small granules that are spread over your yard. This will not kill mosquitoes but if they land near the granules, they will not smell you or be able to find you.

Along with spraying your yard, the pest control contractor will walk around your yard and give you tips on things to change. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in water, so you need to remove water from areas of your property. This includes birdbaths, puddles, children's toys, clogged gutters, old tires, buckets, and pools that are poorly maintained.

A pest control contractor such as Pass Pest Control can give you more tips to reduce the mosquitoes in your yard.
